1. About these terms
These terms and conditions apply to all electrical services provided by Royal Docks Electrical Ltd (company number 06224320, registered in England and Wales), trading as Royal Docks Electrical, of 13 Western Gateway, London, E16 1AJ.
By engaging our services, you agree to these terms.
2. Quotes and estimates
All quotes provided are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless stated otherwise. Written quotes are binding. Verbal estimates are indicative only and may vary once we have carried out a survey of the work required.
Quotes do not include VAT unless explicitly stated. VAT will be added at the prevailing rate.
3. Call-out charges
Call-out charges are payable from the time our engineer attends. The minimum standard call-out charge is £95 + VAT, the minimum emergency call-out charge is £140 + VAT, and the minimum out-of-hours call-out charge is £120 + VAT — each covering attendance and up to one hour of work. Additional time is charged at £45 + VAT per 30 minutes (£65 + VAT per 30 minutes out of hours).
4. Payment
Payment is due upon completion of work unless a credit account has been agreed in writing. We accept bank transfer and major debit/credit cards. We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue invoices at 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
5. Access and site requirements
You are responsible for ensuring we have safe access to carry out the work. Where work requires power isolation, you accept that services will be temporarily unavailable. We will aim to minimise disruption.
6. Variations to agreed work
Where work cannot be completed as originally agreed due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. concealed wiring faults, inaccessible cable runs), we will inform you and agree any variation in writing before proceeding. Additional costs may apply.
7. Our workmanship guarantee
We guarantee the workmanship of installation and repair work carried out by Royal Docks Electrical for 3 years from the date of completion. If a fault arises as a direct result of our workmanship within that period, we will put it right at no charge.
This guarantee does not cover, and any resulting inspection or remedial work is chargeable at our standard rates, where a fault or issue is caused by:
- faults, damage or alterations caused by a third party, another tradesperson, or the customer;
- misuse, tampering, accidental damage, or normal wear and tear;
- defects in materials, appliances or equipment supplied — these are covered by the manufacturer's own warranty, which we will help you claim under;
- pre-existing faults in an installation we did not carry out.
The guarantee applies to the original customer at the installation address and is not transferable. It does not affect your statutory rights.
8. Certification
All notifiable electrical work is certified and, where applicable, registered with the appropriate competent persons scheme. Copies of certificates will be provided upon payment of the invoice.
9. Limitation of liability
Our total liability to you in connection with any contract shall not exceed the value of that contract. We shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or loss of business, except where required by law.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
10. Cancellation
For scheduled (non-emergency) work, we require at least 24 hours' notice of cancellation. Cancellation with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a charge for any materials ordered or preliminary visits already carried out.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always available on this page.
