Are there grants available for EV chargers?

Can I charge my EV from a normal 3-pin plug?

Technically yes, but it is very slow — a standard socket typically provides around 2.3kW, which may only add 8–10 miles of range per hour. A dedicated 7kW home charger is up to three times faster and is designed for overnight charging safely. Using a 3-pin plug long-term also carries a fire risk from sustained high load on a domestic socket.
